Great news re: Rite-Aid on Ninth Avenue

Once again, our complaints finally got somewhere: Witness the Rite-Aid tractor trailer seen Friday afternoon correctly parked in the parking bay instead of in the bike lane on lower Ninth Avenue. While I expect this will be the exception rather than the rule--it's tough for a tractor trailer this size to find so many open parking spaces at once--at least let's be happy about this minor victory. Umm yes I did notice some of the cargo there in the bike lane.

I was testing out the new 9th ave seperated bike lane this afternoon at around 17:00 and saw this 18 wheeler not only illigally enter the bike lane but also completely block it!!
I understand that it is a snow storm day, but a law is a law! Beside, they could have parked at the new desinated parking that is just 2~3 steps away!

Thought I'd check out this Rite-Aid truck that's been reported to be on 9th Avenue. Sure enough, he was there, as was another MBL member.

Well, I passed by again, took pictures, and the rent-a-cop was there again. Our hearts weren't really in it this time around; he diligently called me a re-tard and said the truck would be there every Friday evening no matter what I did, that I could put all the pictures on MySpace I wanted and it wouldn't make a difference, because nobody gave a f*ck. I dutifully took my shots and and notes and got in out of the cold.
It's just exasperating that a business can hire a cop in order to _avoid_ complying with the law. It's also frustrating that, by design, the run from 23rd 9th to the Bowery is now the fastes 2.5 miles in downtown Manhattan by any transportation means, and things like this just spoil it.

A Huge Semi was blocking the restricted - newly separated bike lanes on 9th Ave at 22nd Street on Thursday November 29th. This semi had 2 different plates - one on the front from OK (1ws 148) and one on the rear from NY.
