City Employee on Personal Business
St. Nicholas Ave at 145th St., New york, NY
Part of the daily crop of St. Nicholas @ 145th St blatant abuses. This lady told me she was a transit employee (and has a fake-looking Parking Placard to prove it!) just running downstairs to take care of a personal matter. I told her she was endangering bikers and that she should find a real place to park - like the Parking Lot across the street, perhaps? She told me to go back to where I came from. I told her that sounded like a racist remark and I live a block away.
MTA uses bike lane as rest stop
465 hudson st, New york, NY
Driver was sitting in the bus drinking soda, watching me take pictures. Clickthrough for photo #2 for closeup of his route and bus number as well as photo #3 showing three possible spaces to park the bus on the opposite side of Hudson St. There's no excuse for unprofessional conduct such as this. Call 888-NYCT-BUS if you'd like to report control ID #008 on bus #8602 at 2:45 pm Saturday observed parked in the bike lane at 465 Hudson Street. The MTA actually follows up on complaints and disciplines drivers for improper conduct such as this.
Access-a-Ride now recruiting uninjured bikers
92 second ave, New york, NY
Ever notice how many of these Access-a-Ride drivers lurk in the bike lane and drive recklessly? In theory, their potential client pool increases with every additional injured pedestrian and biker. But seriously, these drivers are notorious and I will start tracking them more closely. It's one thing to idle and double-park when you are picking up a disabled person; I have no problem with that. It's when they idle because they are idle awaiting work—I have a real problem with that.
I'm lovin it!
270 eighth ave, New york, NY
MTA parks in the bike lane to get takeout from McDonald's, is surprised to see the guy on the bike snap his photo. Great use of MTA resources and job time—though it is a Prius, nice touch.
MTA Bus in the bike lane
Allen St and Stanton St, New york, NY
Poorly designed lane right next to a bus stop, but still ... bus in the bike lane
Another reason to criticize design before motorists
Allen St. and Delancey St., New york, NY
This was also on Allen St., like yesterday's "Typical," just a few blocks to the South.
