Flash Transport off in a flash
598 Hudson St, New york, NY

Al's from NC but has (212) and (917) #s and $2,000 in tickets
646 Hudson St, New york, NY
New York State law is clear: you live here, you register and insure your car here. Clickthrough for the photo of the side of this van, which lists (212) and (917) numbers but a P.O. box for an address in North Carolina. There is a definite correlation between those who frequently commit moving and parking violations and those who keep their cars deliberately registered out-of-state to save on insurance and cheat the system. Here's a prime example of where the State of New York needs to enforce its registration laws, which in the five boroughs it seldom does. Instead, the state hopes the city will handle that, which it doesn't. Meanwhile, DOF's website reports: "Please note that any of your vehicles are eligible for towing because of a $1,753.18 debt of tickets in judgment." He additionally accrued $380 of tickets in the past five weeks. Hello, congestion pricing? You'd be towed and off our streets and out of our bike lanes by now. How about the tow truck calls him to ask if he can deliver a package and then when they find him tow him away. How can this guy keep his license and keep up this business?
Rhode Island on Hudson
628 hudson st, New york, NY
Little Rhody rolls in to town, oblivious of the other side of the street as well as the bike lane. $345 of tickets in the last two weeks. Just five bucks more and you can be towed away.
Letter carriers rolling down Hudson Street
483 hudson st, New york, NY
Since this is the fifth time I've observed letter carriers on their routes rolling down the bike lane, it's time to make note of it. Someone is going to get hurt, and it's probably a biker. The sidewalk here is perfectly accessible, and since the corner cuts are good enough for a wheelchair, they are good enough for a mail trolley. How about we start a letter-writing campaign to the postmaster of ZIP 10014 at 527 Hudson Street and ask for safety reasons to issue a memo to letter carriers not to use the bike lane. DHL delivery guys might never change their behavior, but federal employees shouldn't be engaging in such conduct.
MTA uses bike lane as rest stop
465 hudson st, New york, NY
Driver was sitting in the bus drinking soda, watching me take pictures. Clickthrough for photo #2 for closeup of his route and bus number as well as photo #3 showing three possible spaces to park the bus on the opposite side of Hudson St. There's no excuse for unprofessional conduct such as this. Call 888-NYCT-BUS if you'd like to report control ID #008 on bus #8602 at 2:45 pm Saturday observed parked in the bike lane at 465 Hudson Street. The MTA actually follows up on complaints and disciplines drivers for improper conduct such as this.
