DHL serial offender even irks motorists!
629 sixth ave, New york, NY
This guy was strategically parked so the bike lane was blocked just enough to prevent passage. While I was taking his picture, a guy in a minivan stopped in heavy traffic -- which caused the cars behind him to start honking -- and began screaming: "He's ****ing parked there every day! What the **** is this guy's problem?" I replied, "I just took his photo, man"; that caused him to repeat his diatribe even louder. Then he took off in a huff. The traffic agent, who had just put a second ticket on this guy's windshield, was halfway down the block. I told her about this and we both started laughing because it was so crazy. What's not so funny is that I observed at least 15 other delivery trucks blocking the bike lanes on Sixth Ave., Eighth Ave., Lafayette Street and Broadway this morning and afternoon ... more than twice the usual number.
DHL takes the easiest way out
266 lafayette st, New york, NY
Lots of curbside parking on Lafayette, but DHL just rolls into the bike lane for loading and unloading.
DHL
Broadway and West 53rd Street, New york, NY
Serious props to this officer who managed to keep his mount calm in raging traffic while filling out a complete citation to this dangerous DHL dickhead.
DHL
48th Street and 8th Avenue, New york, NY
I understand the need to keep oneself social on the job, but please, if you're going to be in the bike lane when you shouldn't, don't walk 2 abreast just so you can chat.
DHL, you should be ashamed, until you put these dudes on real bicycles, they should be walking single file on the sidewalk.
If they walk on the sidewalk, it's still an inconvenience, but not a safety issue.
DHL
West 12th Street and 5th Avenue, New york, NY
Parked in the bike lane, then sped off and parked in it again two blocks downtown.
DHL
Seaman and Cumming, New york, NY
I managed to shoot this during our 3rd Annual Tour De Ihop ride. The vehicle behind this driver was also parked illegally.
It's hectic enough getting 25 high schoolers through these crazy streets, but assholes parked in the bike lanes sure doesn't make things easier.
DHL at it again
1710 Broadway, New york, NY
Rain or shine, DHL never fails to deliver. In the bike lane.
DHL
Clinton St and State St, Brooklyn, NY
Evening delivery. He managed to impede both the bike lane and the sidewalk. Both places where his van is not meant to be. Apparently these people are not happy having the majority of the public space, they also want the tiny amount of space set aside for pedestrians and cyclists.
First in a long line
Clinton St and Montague St, Brooklyn, NY
Biking to work yesterday morning, I encountered this nice row of 5 vehicles parked in the bike lane in Brooklyn Heights (by far the worst behaving neighborhood I bike through). You can see the livery and the DHL driver followed by the truck. In front of the truck, another 2 cars.
"Take a trip around the block"
West 78th Street at Broadway, New york, NY
When I pointed out to this DHL driver that he was parked in both the bike lane and in front a hydrant and he could easily park in a perfectly legal spot on this street just feet away from where he was, he told me "if you ride around the block, by the time you get to this spot again I'll be gone." Sure, I've got nothing better to do than ride around in circles. As you can see from all the tickets this guy leave on his windshield as he does his rounds, he doesn't care how many he gets. Likely, his employer doesn't have to pay them under the "stipulated fine" program.
