MTA uses bike lane as rest stop
465 hudson st, New york, NY
Driver was sitting in the bus drinking soda, watching me take pictures. Clickthrough for photo #2 for closeup of his route and bus number as well as photo #3 showing three possible spaces to park the bus on the opposite side of Hudson St. There's no excuse for unprofessional conduct such as this. Call 888-NYCT-BUS if you'd like to report control ID #008 on bus #8602 at 2:45 pm Saturday observed parked in the bike lane at 465 Hudson Street. The MTA actually follows up on complaints and disciplines drivers for improper conduct such as this.
More Lennon Lemmings
Central Park West at 72nd St., New york, NY
Wish they would drive over a cliff rather than in the bike lane here across from the Dakota.
Gratuitous Blockage from Golden Touch
West 77th St. and Broadway, New york, NY
This guy left his bus doors open blocking the bike lane for no apparent reason. I shut the doors myself and he came over in a huff. His explanation was that he needed to let the passengers out, but had to admit the little hole in this justification presented by the fact that all the passengers had disembarked some time ago. He said he would keep the doors shut next time.
I then went on to explain that he needed to park flush to the curb, particularly because he was over-wide. He told me that the law requires him to park at least 6" from the curb. What bullshit.
Illegal Layover
West 77th St. and Broadway, New york, NY
I'm glad to say this asshole is gone:

Haven't spotted him here in two seeks since the barrage of calls to his employer.
However others have taken his place. Here's a bus doing the illegal layover thing. He could have pulled up to the curb.
John Lennon Turning Over in His Grave
Central Park West at 72nd St., New york, NY
Just one of the many tour buses that park in the bike lane on Central Park West at 72nd Street so the passengers can spend 15 minutes taking snapshots of the Dakota and the Strawberry Fields Mosaic. Why don't they create a bus layover spot here?
Illegal Layover King
West 77th St. and Columbus Ave., New york, NY
$295 in tix, including for illegal bus layover. It's back to the driving academy for you.
Golden Touch
West 77th Street and Broadway, New york, NY
I often find these Golden Touch vans in the Broadway bike lane further downtown, but I don't stop to take pictures b/c of all the traffic. He's flush to the curb, but it's his problem that he's over-wide. He's also got $290 in tickets.
Bus
Delancey and Allen St, New york, NY
Bus was parked, driver was present but not sitting in the driver's seat.
Getting a Bite to Eat
Eighth Avenue and 48th Street, New york, NY
I know its not easy to find a place to park a bus, and these guys have to eat. But if he would just park in the traffic lane next to the bus lane, we could have gotten through (no dooring hazard from bus in this situation.) $125 in tickets.
Waiting for Passengers in the Bike Lane
Broadway and 32nd Street, New york, NY
Admittedly, this portion of the bike lane has a dashed line indicating that vehicles may cross the lane to the curb to allow passengers to embark and disembark. But this guy was just sitting in the bike lane with no passengers in sight. And according to DoF, he's got a ticket for standing in a no standing zone, just like he's doing here. When will we learn?
MTA Bus in the bike lane
Allen St and Stanton St, New york, NY
Poorly designed lane right next to a bus stop, but still ... bus in the bike lane
Another reason to criticize design before motorists
Allen St. and Delancey St., New york, NY
This was also on Allen St., like yesterday's "Typical," just a few blocks to the South.
