Hello,
This is Wayne Edelman, owner and president of Meurice Garment Care. As a NYC cyclist myself, I’m very disappointed to see a company van inconsiderately parked directly in a bike lane. In this case, after I asked the driver why he had parked in the lane, he explained that he was waiting to move to a spot on the left. I’ve spoken with all of my drivers and made it clear this is unacceptable and will not be permitted.
As a gesture of goodwill, I’m happy to donate $100 to the charity of MyBikeLane’s choice should another user find one of our vans blocking a biking lane in the future. Please feel free to contact me directly through our website – garmentcare.com.
Best wishes,
Wayne Edelman

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the post.
It's the first nice thing I see on this page for a long time. Normally, I hear always excuses why it is necessary to use the non-separated bike lane. But this is an honest excuse I would accept.

Wayne,
Thanks for your amazing response. THAT is how you handle a situation like this!! Others businesses should take note!
As for the situation above, I didn't notice the driver take a spot, as he drove away down Lafayette as soon as I took the picture - but that may very well have been because no spot opened up, which I understand.
And for the record, this is only the second incident ever on this site of a Meurice Garment care vehicle blocked in a bike lane, and both times the response was excellent.
Thank you
