be aware it is a federal offence to activly follow armored trucks, besides you could be mistaken as a threat and shot....

Please direct me to some of my 'rants'. I have no reason to get a license but I will have on next year. I'm a working person and a tax payer and Brinks trucks are blocking bikelanes that our taxes payed for.

And holy shit, I am not fucking following these trucks around. If I come upon one BLOCKING MY LANE, I take a photo of it. Get over it already, everytime I see an armored truck in a bike lane, I am going to post it on the web.

In fact, I will be extra observant just to piss you off.

armored driver -- i'm sorry, did you have a point in your comments? i seemed to have missed it amongst your rants. can you point me to the law that says that it is illegal to follow an armored car? I ask this because we've had supposed armored car drivers comment here before, and quote non-existent laws in defense of their own illegal and dangerous behavior. i understand the danger that you face, and I recognize that legal parking may not always be available. but instead of attacking those exposing the problem, perhaps you ought to work for changes in parking regulations so that armored car drivers can in fact park legally and safely. And yes, I do believe that you should walk across the street -- i've seen it many times.

also, local roads are paid for by NYC income taxes, so yes, those of us who do not drive certainly pay for your roads.

hey lawandorder: good to have some one who can speak with a brain, sorry im not ranting,yes the point of my comments has been the this: parking in n.y.c. is a almost immpossiible, these trucks do delivery,pick ups, whatever,they dont want to be there longer then they need to be. yes i support legal parking for delivery vechicles,you talk about exposing the problem the problem is what you said "legal parking not always avaible" yes i am a real driver and i will not let my crew out in un safe situations. i live a small mountain town now but still know n.y.c. very well. we have many roads here that are only 2 lanes when 2 semis pass each other we have maybe only 5feet of clearence to each other, now we get a bicylist on the road ,what fun my state has a new law that states when passinig a cyclist that we have to give at least 5 foot cleareance, so do the math looks like a head on to me or better yet waste the guy on the bike "because he dosent belong on this road" my state has paid for thousands of miles for bike paths they dont belong on mountain passes with no room for clearence.explain illegal and dangerous behavior?? and for once address the question re:

ratherbebiking: interesting study was just finished in my town this week,a study on cycilists that fail to obey traffic laws found that :53 violations(failure to stop at stop signs, fail to stop for red lights,failure to hand signal turns., time these 53 violatins occured,1.5hr.) not ranting just digusted with riders lack of following the rules. you are required to follw the same rules as a motor vechiles! so again stop avoiding the question how often do you,(andlawandorder) adhire to these rules???

This site isn't about that. Feel free to make your own website to report violators. I would GLADLY contribute, because I generally stop at red lights and I never ride on the sidewalk.

Hi, just want to drop by and say that as a regular bicyclist who travel along the bike lanes, I'm sick and tired of all these dangerous double-parking! Why do we have to endanger ourselves when we are clearly biking down the bike lanes and have to detour around the car/truck/whatever is blocking our way?? Ugh... if I have to take pictures of all the vehicles parking in bike lanes, I would probably have 50 of them by the end of the day!

No way! I actually stop at a red light like all other vehicles do. I mean obviously a bike lane is there for a reason, FOR BIKES, NOT CARS/TRUCKS!

Armored driver is woefully ignorant. The income and other general taxes I pay go to roads. I'm subsidizing you, not the other way around. Far too many of these armored drivers are wannabe cops who like acting important by unnecessary blocking the bike lane and running around with pistols drawn. People who think bicyclists should follow the letter of the law while motorists and pedestrians fail to do so are silly. Bicyclists should reasonably respect the safety and rights of others, no more, no less. That's what reasonable people in NYC traffic do.

Unfortunately, the police does not need the $115 per violation. If you see one close to a blocking car remind her/him about the 'violation code 48: Stopping, standing or parking within a designated bicycle lane'.
