I can go to this spot, 54th and 8th and see a car (or more) parked in the bike lane. every day. often, its the cops becuase they are shallow and callous, and sometimes it's other people, becuase they are shallow and callous

Its always the cops - I am one block up from here. The Precinct is on 54th off 8th. When they are bored of parking on the sidewalk on 54th they get in their car and pull around the corner and stop for a coffee at the health food store here. Meanwhile there is always a traffic jam of gridlock at 8th and 57th - too bad there is no cop there to get the damn drivers to clear the intersection.

Exactly - every morning there seems to be a police vehicle parked there. Even when there is ample parking space available.

Thats because the Police work for those in power, and not for the guy on the bike, so they don't care. a police car illegally pakred in the bike lane forcing a biker to ride in the lane of traffic, which amply multiplies the chance of death, highlights the fact that they don't give a fuck becuase they aren't out there to protect, they are out there to serve the corpoarte/elitist interest. it's a fact.

So it's the cops fault that the city doesn't take parking into account when building a police facility? I don't see how the blaming the cop is fair.

#4 Uh, he's breaking the law. Your logic is ridiculous.
So, it's the bank robbers fault that the government didn't give him free money? I don't see how blaming criminals is fair.
And let's not get started on NYPD and FDNY contracts and parking. I've read them. The City is under no obligation to provide parking.
Newsflash - there is not a lot of parking around police facilities for a good reason - we live in a City, not the suburbs.
