According to the guys who drive this truck, there are no bike lane indicators after the crosswalk where they are parked meaning that they are not blocking a bike lane.
According to the NYC bicycle map this is part of the bike lane - the lane lasts until Spruce Street here.
It is obvious the bike lane continues, you can see it from the picture. This is a flagrant violation of the traffic laws and an obvious danger to all cyclists using this bike land:
- parked commercial vehicle in a no standing zone
- blocking a fire hydrant
- blocking a marked bile lane
And all of this in plain sight of City Hall and daily police patrols and under constant surveillance of NYPD, Park Police and Homeland Security. The truck is there everyday throughout the day year after year. In other words, neither the city politiceans or law enforcement cares about the safety of the bike riding public. Apparently it's more important to provide tourists with ice cream.
