I was walking home tonight when I noticed some police officers directing traffic at 2nd Avenue and East 7th St because the stoplight was out. Why they couldn't park their van in a parking spot instead of the bike lane is beyond me. They had plenty of room. God forbid "real" traffic be inconvenienced, but bicycle riders of course are not worthy of concern to them.
Oh, and of course the empty van was idling for no appreciable reason.

When are the police learn that the best way to enforce the law is to lead by example.

Probably idling to keep it warm inside for when they got back in. What a waste.
