This is the usual crap on the 8th Ave bike lane. In one day -- a normal day, there were more than 15 cars or trucks parked on the bike lane in only 20 blocks. The rest of the lane was flooded with pedestrians

This is exactly my route and I'm constantly stunned at the volume of people just using the bike lane as a loading zone. And the cops parked are just chatting with the tourists, not guarding us from terror which is the constant explanation for their overtime...
What about the pushcarts? Do you know what the law is about them in the bike lane? Not that knowing the law would make a difference.

OK would you rather have no cops looking out for the terrorist, also chatting with tourist to get an idea if they are terrorist sounds good to me.and why are you so worried about the p.d. overtime these cops are the lowest paid in NY and have the biggest city to patrol. maybe you should go back to the small town you came from where they have bike lanes that i am sure everybody obeys the rules.(sounds a little mean sorry) p.s i am a bike rider i have been riding the streets of NY for forty years you just have to learn how to move with the traffic.

Hey old timer, things don't work like the used too. And I'd be willing to bet that most people on this site posting pictures have lived in NYC their whole lives - I know I have.

Hey ratherbebiking i know this site is a bunch of winy you know what and nothing
is going to happen to drivers when civilians take these pictures.
And by the way after riding for forty years you could not keep up with me if you had a motor on your bike.

oh 'biker'...
Educated citizens of this fair city (now matter how long they have lived here) are worried about the use of police overtime because these very same citizens are paying for that overtime. I know that when I am paying for a product or service that I want it to be an economically sound investment. Watchdog groups are continually uncovering corruption within the NYPD overtime charges. In addition, Gov. Paterson recently gave a very stern warning about the state of the states economy. Under these circumstances doesn't it make sense to be concerned about what NYPD overtime is spent on?
I don't care if these police are the lowest paid, that does not in any way excuse their not enforcing the laws they are sworn to protect. That is my opinion as a tax payer, not a cyclist. They are not tour guides.

Biker - learn to respect common standards of spelling and grammar before you use them in your cheap insults, then come out to a race so I can whoop your ass.

I feel like you wouldn't be around for forty years if you rode 8th avenue in Midtown every day. I've only done it a few times, it sucks.
