Yukon't do that

Observed by lawandorder on Sat, Apr 26 2008

For Virginia plates, this truck driver sure racks up a lot of tickets in NYC. He could be towed for his $642.64 in overdue parking tickets alone, but my hope is that he'll be arrested for insurance fraud first.

Do NYC police not run a plate before issuing a new ticket? Because with that much in overdue tickets (one of them is in judgment, and three are from last year), you'd think they would be glad to tow it and get their money.

Most tickets are issued by Traffic Enforcement Agents. I don't think they have the ability to do plate lookups, but I'm not certain.

First of all...police officers do not have the ability to determine if a vehicle has overdue parking tickets.

Second of all...police are not required to run a license when issuing a summons.

Third of all...vehicles with overdue parking summonses THAT ARE IN JUDEGEMENT are towed by the Marshall not by the police. Towing a vehicle for overdue parking summonses is a civil matter and not a police matter.
