I called 911 after the drivers of one of these vehicles intentionally opened his door into me and another approached me to grab my camera. Watch out for these dangerous people on 8th Avenue near 55th street who often sit parked in the bike lane there for hours of the day.

You can't just start a story like that and not tell what happened - did the Police respond? Did you follow through in some way? Seems to me that it's specifically the FOLLOW THROUGH that will make a huge difference, albeit one driver at a time (until they start spreading the word to 'each other', etc. - word of mouth can be huge in NYC for this kind of thing!)
