Granted, the bike lane has eroded to the point of invisiblity here. How about a new buffered Broadway bike lane, DoT? Broadway has just about the most intense traffic situation of any route with a bike lane except perhaps First Ave.

The three blocks from 57th to 54th are a hellish nghtmare; when I use the lane at this point it's either raining or I'm on the Xootr (which has hard wheels.) You can see in the photo that the restricted lane markings have actually been gouged out of the road surface, presenting a Hobson's choice between getting rutted or trusting in the driving etiquette of cabs. This entire stretch is a bike lane violation in and of itself.
