This van has over $5500 in unpaid parking tickets. Seriously, how is this a good business model? I understand that they probably are enrolled in the Stipulated Fine program, but even that must cost these companies. You'd think that they'd partner with the new DOT to re-allocate parking spaces for commercial vehicles.
This is a really bad spot to park in a bike lane. Around 6:00, each light cycle on 10th St has 4 or 5 cyclists circling on the far side of the bike lane, waiting for a break in traffic to bust the light and then catch the light on much-busier 3rd ave. If a north-bound cyclist has to swing around a truck at that point, everyone has to scramble.
BTW before anyone says anything, I support the constitutional right of Conservation of Momentum for bicyclists.
i contacted time warner and about their violations, awaiting a response. if i get none or they try to justify it, they can expect to be posted on the 'bike lane wall of shame'.
When the fines get this high they are more than the value of the vehicle. Even if it is towed the owner will just abandon it rather than pay fines to reclaim. So there is on on peverse incentive to park ilegally.
