See the spot where the cyclist is pulled over with the truck parked behind him?
Traffic is not moving through that area, and therfore it would have been safer for this truck to be parked there. Please don't assume that all lanes have traffic moving through them if you weren't actually there at the time.
Generally, I try to show in my photographs safer parking options. They might not be convienent, but they are often SAFER, and safety is more important than conveinence.
In this photo, the UPS truck is blocking TWO lanes of traffic, not just one.
So even if that lane on the other side of the street were a regular through-lane, he would only be blocking one lane of traffic if he was parked there.

again, where would you like him to pull over? on the right side thereby blocking all oncoming traffic?
