potential assault

Observed by lawandorder on Thu, Aug 16 2007

From what I could gather, the driver (guy on the left with the yellow shirt) threatened to hit the bicyclist arguing with him.

First of all thatscum bag registers his van in PA so he doesn't have to pay NYC insurance rates, so it's insurance fraud!

Today I was about to run a red light (it just changed) and this guy yells at me, "You just ran a red light motherfucker!" I told him, "Shove it Fat-Ass!"

And there was some ass jogging in the bike lane on the Brooklyn Bridge like it was his God-given right to do so. I elbowed him.

Fight back!

Crimson, elbowing and cursing at people does not help our cause.

Hey Crim,

How come you haven't made any posts? Can you spell A-G-E-N-T P-R-O-V-A-C-A-T-E-U-R? Let's keep it civil and safe, people!

The driver looks pretty pleasnt to me. He's smiling and offering you a cigarette.

I try and keep it civil and safe and respectful, however, I was pretty fed up by the time I got up to 8th ave and 44th st where this Fat-ass was. I mean I turn onto 8th avenue and there are a) tons of port authority commuters walking in the bike lane, b) lots of those DHL guys pushing their carts in the bike lane, c) trucks parked in the bike lane, and the police eating donuts (I swear I saw it). So I'm supposed to remain civil?

Sorry, but we get no respect.

That's when keeping your cool is really important - when it's really bad.

Just keep riding, and just keep reminding yourself that one day we will all be able to share this little planet, or we will all die because we can't.

"Just keep riding, and just keep reminding yourself that one day we will all be able to share this little planet, or we will all die because we can't."

The human race will become extinct because of improper bike lane usage in NYC? That seems a little extreme to me.

No. I was speaking in MUCH broader terms parade, try to think outside the white lines.

Parade, he's not offering anybody a cigarette. A few seconds before he was threatening to hit the guy with the hat. When he saw me pull up with the camera he suddenly was like, "oh whatever" and started smiling, probably realizing how much of an ass he was.

Crim, us breaking the law is just as bad as them breaking the law. Gandhi wasn't the best looking dude ever, but he had some pretty smart ideas. Retaliation will just get us punished more, and breaking the traffic laws on our own is pretty hypocritical on this site.
