No, there was no emergency. Just a cop causing an emergency.

If you can grab a photo of the placard in the window, please post this to uncivilservants.org

Hey Mr. Police officer, AKA paraderest, how about giving these folks a ticket?

You know, I often can't believe that the police actually expect bicyclists to obey the same laws that cars are supposed to. Well, we all know that vehicular laws are ALMOST NEVER enforced. Therefore, we all now that there is no reason a bicyclist should obey any vehicular law. When the police starts to do their job 24/7/365, then MAYBE, I'll start obey the laws, until then, as long as anarchy rules the day, so be it!

uncivilservant.org doesn't let me log in with my mybikelane.com account. I guess I'll try creating a separate account? Where can I learn more about No Permit Zones. Brooklyn Heights is crowded with illegally parked cars with dubious placards.

I didn't catch the type of placard for DJM 6161 by I will next time. There seem to be a nice mix of placards between the various court houses and witness protection things in the neighborhood.

Just wondering why you accredit this violation to a police officer.

It was was one of the placard's that says "NYPD" across the bottom. Though most likely "Court Officer." I didn't snap a picture of the placard, but I remember distinctly it being a police officer placard.

If it said NYPD then it would not be a court officer. Court Officers have their own placards.

I'll be sure to take a picture next time. He (or she) parks around there often enough.

If the placard said NYPD, then there are three options.
1- They are an NYPD officer parked illegally.
2- They are not an NYPD officer and they are illegally using an NYPD placard.
3- The placard is fake.

And what do you know? Every single one of those options winds up with the driver of that monstrosity in the wrong. No matter what. Because that is the law you are so quick to dispose of.
