I will have to say that in many places, especially in Brooklyn, the bike lanes are in serious need of repair. Not the pavement, but the lines themselves. Take a look at the Dean St. bike lane near 4th ave. It's non-existent. The Brooklyn Bridge bike lane is in sad shape. I complained about this about 18 months ago and yet nothing has been done. Although this is clearly a bike lane, and you can see the lines on this photo, I think NYC needs to get out there and repaint their bike lanes ASAP!

I agree. However, if you notice, the area where the bike line is most worn away is cement, not asphalt. Thermoplast seem to wear off more easily on cement. You can see this effect in bus stops too.
