Adams Street, Brooklyn, NY
Not sure if this really qualifies for the site since it's not technically a vehicle parked in the bike lane, but...
This is Adams Street in Brooklyn near the front of the Marriott Hotel. First of all the bike lane is laid out along the curb right in front of the hotel, exactly where all loading and unloading takes place. Not too brilliant to start with. But then someone in their infinite wisdom thought the bike lane would be a good place to put an artsy bike rack and outdoor public seating. Maybe since the lane is blocked most of the time anyway with hotel traffic they figured what the heck?
But to my mind the bike lane down the service road of Adams St here is one of the prime accesses to the Brooklyn Bridge. I think they could have done a slightly better job of laying it out here.
9th Avenue and 15th Street, New york, NY
Everyday there's a USPS truck parked right in the middle of the bike lane on 9th Avenue and 15th Street in Manhattan. I stopped once before Christmas and asked him not to block the lane. The driver gave me a story about how he can't park at the curb because there are always cars parked illegally there.
Doesn't seem to be the case today. Unfortunately there was no one around to complain to this time.
